Question 3500 dually rear air suspension?

So I'm strongly considering a 2015 or 16 MegaCab 3500 dually with the H.O. engine/Aisin trans. and found one with the rear "air suspension".
I would love to hear any feedback from those who have actual experience with this setup. Not sure if it's a good choice or just the standard suspension and add my own bags (Airlift 7500XL) later? Thoughts?

I have a 2018 3500 with the air suspension, for 5 months now, and quite honestly, I don't know.

The "alt trailer height" switch doesn't really do much unless the trailer is VERY heavy (10,000 lbs or higher), and even then when "Alt Trailer height" is engaged, the truck doesn't drop more than an inch or two.

If you want air suspension for leveling and stability, it helps greatly. If you want it so you can lower the truck to get stuff out of the bed easily, it wont.

I just wish the air suspension accompanied slightly weaker springs, so the truck could dip a bit more when engaging it. I'd like ease of loading into the bed, too.

I also have an 18 3500 with it. I haven’t had the chance to haul a heavy enough load for the system to turn on. I will say though, I drove one with the air ride and one without. The one with rear air felt like it drove a bit smoother and absorbed bumps on the road better.

However, my truck has less than 5k miles and the ‘Service Air Suspension Immediately’ light has come on several times already. Dealer said there’s nothing wrong, and the light has since come on again. I’m a bit annoyed.

I have a 17 3500 with factory air. Love it. Keeps truck at the same height with trailer attached or bed loaded. super stable when towing and headlights always aimed correctly.
Can lower a couple of inches (transport mode) to drive the quad in - helps for sure. I would order it again hands down

I have it on my 2015 DRW. Rides better empty and keeps truck level when loaded. I tow a 16K+ fifth wheel with 4,000 on the pin. The truck is loaded within 800-1000 lbs of 14k max.

I like mine, keeps the truck at the same height no matter what trailer I have hooked up to it.

Not sure bout the 10000 lbs trailer comment posted above, couple hundred lbs of pin weight from an empty gooseneck will allow the alt height setting.

And if it had weaker springs, how would you counteract the resulting spring wrap?
I know, it's not rocket science to build a set of bars, or even a 4-link, but still.

Just about to order the second 3500 with the factory air, by the way.

2016 with rear air suspension. Works great to keep load leveled. Alt trailer height will only drop about an inch or so as others have stated. No issues so far.

Love the leveling of my air suspension when I hook up my 5er. Air compressor comes on and truck goes right to level!

Hey, I'm looking at a '15 dually with Aisin and 3.73 gears. Are you happy you got the 4.10s or would you have preferred the 3.73s? I have 4.10s in my current truck but the 48re doesn't have the low gearing of the Aisin...OR the higher gearing OD either.

My '17 with the Aisin and 3.73s turn about 2,000 rpm at 80. With 4.10s that'd be about 2,200 rpm.
