I’ve recently blown up my 3rd bd transmission and I’m starting to look for other options. My truck is deleted and tuned running 38s with 4.30 gears and I only run my 50 hp tune. My first 2 bd trans broke the overdrive shaft and my third one still hasent been diagnosed but I’m thinking I broke my input shaft or the converter went out. The last 2 transmissions only had 4400 miles on both combined. I don’t know if I’m having tcm issues or wiring issues? Any suggestions. Also what brand would you guys recommend? I’m stuck in between Randy’s and a suncoast. Suck the truck only has 55000 miles on it. I’m to the point of just selling it which sucks. Hopefully you guys have some answers

I would look at or call the tuner. If you are breaking shafts with just 50 hp I would wonder if the tuner turned off or removed a lot of the TQ management. The trans will not survive 0HP increase if the torque management is removed.

What are you doing to your truck at the EXACT MOMENT your transmissions fail?

Are you in the middle of a burnout? Boosted launch? WOT run?

Or are you merely cruising down the highway and BOOM your transmission goes kuh-put?

How are you controlling LP. Boost reference box or EFI? What TC did you do? Enhanced or low stall? Billet input?

Looking thru Randyís build list looks like they use a good bit of suncoast parts mixed with a few sonnax pieces so probably about samey-samey between the two. If those are the options youíre considering Iíd suggest checking into the authorized installers in your area, seeing what their reviews are like, and calling the builders to discuss your history, habits, and goals, and see who gives you the best warm-n-fuzzy before plunking down that much scratch.

Side note: Iím with the above comments that if youíre grenading transmissions with such regularity thereís something off with your tuning, or your driving style needs adjusting a bit for a built trans.

The first bd trans I was passing
Someone. Second one I was
Going 65 towing my travel trailer not hot
Roddin at all. The 3rd I was leaving a stop sign light throttle and it started doing some funky downshifting

First and second trans I had stock tuning with bd pressure box.3rd trans I have hardway trans tune built Specific to bd’s trans( 250 lp) I’m using bd’s converter geared towards towing with a billet shaft

38s, that's a big tire, but nothing huge. Is this the same transmission rebuilt over and over or new trans each time?

New unit every time. I thought 38s with stock gearing is why I broke the first one. Regeared it and broke 2 transmissions even faster
