2012 Double Din Install Issues

Hey guys i am about to install my double din in my ram and i know there will be some modifications which i expected. but it came with this metra dash kit and IMO this dash kit is crap with the pioneer reciever. it doesnt sit flush against the sides nicely at all. i had to notch the sides of the dash kit to get it to come close to sitting flush with the face of the unit but it made all the holes line up terribly. what dash kit are you guys getting. this is the METRA DDXL-6511 which from all sites and stores is supposed the fit the 2012. any pointers are welcomed.

Used this dash kit before with no issues on a pioneer, other than it not looking very factory. They are more like glorified spacers really. Mine sat flush to the front of the HU but still had a small gap on the sides when the dash panel was put back. I did have to trim out the bottom of the metal radio support that the factory one sits on in order to get the pioneer to fit...

Yea the gap is what looks crap but none of this kits side mounting holes line up very well either I noticed a couple while searching on line looked like they used a different brand kit. Just was hoping to see what some of you guys have done. I know I got to cut the metal bracket in side and the plastic on the top or the bottom of the hole a little
