2013 dead on side of road

Just a quick initial post. Fan sucked in shroud and turned radiator to swiss cheese. Was pulling combined 29,930lbs up pass outside Bakersfield temp hit 215, fan kicked in high then bam, steam everywhere. Radiator is all chewed up, waiting to get towed to Bakersfield dodge and camping world.

Truck is 2014 Aisin single cab dually 4x4 4.10. Was towing like a dream.

So 2013-14, but either way, wonder how the fan caught the shroud?

Oh sorry fat finger.. its a 2013. I think the rubber portion was pulled in from the vacume.
It just sits on a lip with nothing to prevent it from being pulled in.

What's a "Chair force" guy using a handle like "slackjaw"??? Seriously though, Thank you for your families Service. As a young "Lance-coolie" in the Corps I was fortunate enough to snag an amazing woman serving in the Air Force. 34 years later, still attached at the "hip-bone" and keeping her blinders on so she can't see what a mistake she made.

Good luck on the repair and enjoy the rest of your R&R.

That STINKS!!! But guess what, your now the 3rd person I know of that it has happened to. You, a friend of mine here in town with a 2013 3500, and me. Same thing, that maleable rubber fan shroud piece that overlaps the radiator gets warm and very soft. My friend was pulling when it happened to him...got warm and sucked it right into the fan and out the radiator. I got mine warm when I was working it through some snow. Thought I had broke a hose. Nope, sucked that soft piece of the fan shroud into the fan and through the radiator. I was wondering when I might hear a story on this forum about this. There are so many more folks out there pulling I thought it was just an isolated incident with mine, just didn't really want to bring it up. There is so little room between the fan and hard portion of shroud, maybe
3/8" on mine. RAM must really be wanting to create a large amount of suction in that area. But that soft rubber shroud piece is a problem!

Be careful with Haddad dodge. Back in 97 I had a new 1 ton welding rig.(my livelihood) dropped 5th gear and they told me it would take 6 weeks to fix and 2 weeks to get it in. I ask why so long, the service writer told me there tranny man was slow but good. I made the statement that they had the wrong tranny man. He said to pull it in and I told him they would not be working on my truck. He told me if you keep driving the truck you will do damage to the tranny that warranty would not cover. I told him the tranny can fall out on the freeway for all I care and they would not touch my truck. He then tells me He isn't going to put a tranny in my truck and I just told him I KNOW, and I drove off.

Yea I'm worried about this dealer they are trying to say no warranty because it was a rock that did it... they had no evidence of a rock and I presented my case for the shroud getting sucked in. Now its up on the rack while the determine what to do. Radiator alone is $1500. I have pics I will post tonight.
