Do you have an orielly, advance, autozone or any parts store near you? Just use there’s on rental

Yes. But I like gathering tools. And every time I used the loan a tool program the tool I get is broken or defective. It also gives me another way to make extra money on the side. Just never got the press before because the shop on base has one but I wont be able to use that one for another 3-4 weeks. And I need this one done asap.

I have a kit similar to that. I changed my ball joints out a couple weeks back. I had to call friend who had a dodge kit from Chrysler. The c clap he had was bigger and had more fittings. My kit like that would not do the job.

Went to replace the ball joints last night. Started with the passenger side. Got to the wheel bearing bolts and saw this

Picked up 2 new ujoints, and went ahead and ordered new wheel bearings and replace it all while I'm there.

Yea. Definitely wasnt expecting to do everything at once lol. But might was well. Just have to be careful for another week so it doesnt cause any more damage. Plan to use the ball joint press to press thr cups of the ujoint out. And itll give me an excuse to do some extra cleaning and some paint.

i'd prolly remove the front shaft to take off any extra torque on the joints.

Since you're in there... MANUAL HUB CONVERSION!!!!

If it's in 2wd the front shaft is free spinning. But since it a locked hub the front axle shafts spin with the wheel and can stress the joint. Dont plan on running to town this week but if I keep the speeds low it shouldn't be a problem. The new wheel bearings should be here on Wednesday. I can start Thursday after work and ride my bicycle to work on Friday. It's only a mile away so it's not too bad.

Been helping work on my 2004 3/4 ton Cummins. Been in a friends shop since late November getting cab corners, rockers. That turned into 4 doors, fenders and a hood to get rid of rust. In final reassembly stages. Then on to painting frame and mounting the new bed.

Those axle joints won’t press out with a balljoint press (I’ve tried) the top of the caps are tapered or something, and they just won’t push through like most u-joints will. The only puller that’ll work cradles one cup, and pushes sides of the cups going the other way.
