Sxe366 egt

Was looking for actual feedback on egt's with guys running sxe366. My stock turbo took a dump and plan to do injectors in near future. I'm currently on stock fuel with an old h&s mini max. Waiting to do a tune when fuel sticks go in. Had turbo on since winter, can say it's a no brainer that it has some lag currently. Now that it's hot outside I'm noticing my egt when truck is in 6th is in the 900's and in ballpark of 4-6 lbs boost going down highway . I cant say I remember it being quite that bad. I thought it was in the high 7's before. Now I'm paranoid. Also truck had 37's and without going to a 4.10 and up gear ratio I know that it's not optimal, but life happens and just cant do everything all at once. So any egt feed back would be much appreciated.

Without custom tuning on 37s and stock gearing. I could see those numbers that you’re getting. What’s your AR size?

It has the H&S kit on it. .91 a/r and 73 mm turbine. Truck is due for a service so this weekend I will double check to see if I have a head gasket going on it, but haven't noticed coolant levels change or any issues in that department. The driveability of the truck isn't the worst for now, I'm just beating my head against the wall not feeling like egt's were this high when I put it on in March, but can't say for sure. I feel like I would have noticed these temps and remembered.

Anarchy still does MCC for the 4th gens.
What RPM are you at when @ 900f hi-way speed?
Just curious.

I would say it's about 1600 rpm or so. If truck is in 6th, doing 65 mph it's in the 900's. If I come to slight grade, and trans does not downshift on it's own, it will climb to 1000. Even when I manually downshift to 5th and bring the rpm's up, it helps, but not much, it will drop back to low 900. if there is little load on the truck going down a country road at 60, its even in the 800 mark for egt. never really is it consistently in the 700's

Are you also on stock fuel? In 6th gear going up slight hill does it climb another 150 degrees or so? How do you like the turbo?

Yeah, I'm still on stock fuel and yes EGT's will rise if there is a grade (6th), but generally not over 1k*. Honestly, I'm not really a fan of the turbo. To keep EGT's and smoke in check, you have to live at 2k RPMs and above, which gets annoying for a daily. I don't even try to pass people in 6th gear (drop to 5th) because it just ends up a smokey mess. That being said, if you're easy on the skinny pedal, its not an issue. When I merge onto the freeway though, I shift it by hand.

If I had to do it over again, I would've gotten a Cheetah for stock fuel or compounds with fuel mods.

37s on 3.42s is not a good combo. The motor always has a load on it. Add in sub par tuning and it's no wonder you have higher egts. As for why they are higher now than earlier in the year, hot air is less dense than cool air. You're truck runs less efficient in 100f weather than 60f. Add in all the other factors and there you go.
