Good lord steering linkage drop

So after droping the kid off a school I pull into work and this happens... I count my blessings because it couldnt of happen at a better place. Anyone ever seen one shear off like this?

Yep, happened to me backing out of the driveway. Thanked God right there that it wasn't on the highway going around a curve on a bridge...

Got the upgraded one from Dodge, not messing around with eBay or Amazon on a part like this.

Talk to me about this upgrade. I just checked 3 different box store brands and none of them will press into my pitman arm wth..... the collar will only go in the arm mabye 1/8 and its not enough thread sticking out for me to out nut and cotter key on.

Compair the A taper of the pitman to how you are trying to install the arm. .

Depending on lift and corrisponding pitman , they can go top or bottom install . The A taper indicates the correct way of install. .

I have seen more that one steering bar end installed upside down , not good .

Yes sir that was my problem yesterday. Then I realized the guy who put it in before me had it installed from the bottom even though the taper was from the top.

Glad you figured it out and got the replacement in correctly .
Botched steering components can be dangerous .

Yea sir! It has me wondering if I should replace the whole y link with a slight better one because of the nut job that worked on the truck before I got it. This stuff can turn into a death trap quick.
