I broke down and put the dpf back on haha. I have mentioned this before but Iím moving to Texas in 1-2 months now and weíre towing our 5er out there, the truck runs so smooth and quiet itís gonna be nice for 18 hours, also I donít have to pack and store the DPF system during the move.

Took it for a 20mins drive, runs great like that actually. I am running egr unplugged with a CEL, not gonna let the egr soot up everything I have cleaned out. Gonna use the torque app to monitor Codes easier.

I will delete again in Texas, but save up and collect some parts then do it all right. Turbo back 4Ē with good muffler and maybe resonator in the downpipe, Studs, efi live, trans tune, maybe a horn (because why not lol) and dare I say 2nd gen swap with remote Eb????

Anywho... Iím happy with it for now, 1 less shelf to pack up too

Do you think this helped at all? moving the stock muffler forward into the delete pipe. I like the price on that hehe

My tail section is messed up, right now I have it off the truck. It just ends at the DPF/NOX haha. PO welded the stock muffler and tail together so it came out in one piece. Then either make a new tail, or just turn it down to the ground.

Kinda want to try that, since its short, it could always have more cut out for a bigger muffle later. This is a free option ($20 for the welds)

From everything that I have read the farther forward you move a resonator/muffler the less drone and quieter it seems to be. Not sure how quiet you want it but some of these new diesels especially the D-Max trucks you can't even hear the engine hardly running when your right next to them.

Just looking to kill the droning at this point. Now that I have the stuck emission equipment on the exhaust I have a better baseline.

Im gonna have the muffler shop fix up my delete pipe back to the tail with straight 4Ē and put the stock resonator/muffler up at the front of the delete pipe. Along with fixing my hangers in the rear.

From there, if I need quieter, I can cut out the stock muffler I moved and clamp in something larger.

Hopefully that does it. If not, just turn the radio up!

Got under and measured and the stock muffler will not fit up at the front of the delete pipe. Because itís oval shaped with the pipe on one side. Not a clean fit anyways. Iím gonna put something round in there. A muffler or resonator, going back to my first plan from this thread. Haha

quiet down my deleted 08

Ok, after much much research with the forum and a ton of fiddling I got it! Perfect zero vibration, zero drone at any RPM, she sounds like freedom on the outside and on the inside I now hear more of the engine and turbo than I ever did, when I step on it I donít even hear exhaust from the rear, itís kinda weird actually.

So what did I do? I had the delete pipe re-welded, the weld was cracking from stress because the rear wasnít right. My focus slowly moved to the tail pipe section after the stock resonator. It was all a aftermarket exhaust shop job from the PO. But it is welded to the resonator not clamped, so I canít adjust the tail angle without twisting the resonator and straining the entire system and it didnít look right the more I looked at it. I found it was too straight compared to stock, it didnít bend with the frame and leaf pack. So in turn a bunch of pipe showed, and it was the source of the vibrations thru the whole system.

I had to loosen the delete pipe to resonator clamp and twist it too much to get the tail pipe up where it should be. Putting stress on everything

Hereís how it was

Solution, I figured I was going to get a new tail anyway if this didnít work, so I cut it off...

I love the look too, and I canít believe how much quieter the entire truck it, like I said above I hear the engine and turbo more than anything and itís kinda weird not hearing any exhaust drone when I step on it.

Iím happy.... I might have the shop put a little downward bend on it it keep heat and soot off the rear leaf pack, but you can feel the air pressure with you hand, it barely hits it.

Hereís a little video

If you're good enough with a welder, a long exhaust auger is the way to go. That did the trick on my buddy's deleted '08 with a 2nd gen swap. I've had good luck with small augers on my 2nd gen.

come to think of it looking at the pics now, I could probably just cut it a little higher making it point down more.

basically a FTE resonator, thats kinda the conclusion I came to as well. That was my next step. but tickled pink with it as it.

1. Fix vibrations - done
2. kill drone with FTE resonator in the delete pipe - no longer needed.

I have a 17" FTE resonator up front and an aero muffler at the rear. All the good diesel sounds but no drone.
In my opinion, the sound level is more than reasonable compared to some trucks I've heard.

I don't have the same problem everyone in this thread has. I'm deaf. :-D

So, my truck can be the the quietest, or the loudest and have the most irritating drone in the world, it's all the same to me.

Which is why just a delete pipe was fine with me. How the exhaust system sounds is a totally irrelevant issue to me.

Ok, carry on.
