Exhaust manifold and CA Emissions?

My truck recently just started a slight squealing sound when the exhaust brake kicks on when warming up. When warmed up it goes away. At 190,000mi I'm pretty sure either the manifold gasket(s) are done, or the manifold is cracked somewhere or something? Haven't stuck my head in there yet. Anyways, does anybody know if the CA Smog techs are likely to know if I put a 2 piece manifold on? Any Cali deleted trucks out there with an aftermarket manifold? Assuming most techs are dipzhits, would they even look at it, I mean it's not as obvious as a pair of long tube headers on a V8. If I retained the head shield, and put on like an ATS 2 piece pulse manifold, it would look pretty stock, right? Other than being new looking, how the hell would the tech know the difference? Any help is always much appreciated!

Umm wouldnít a two price manifold mean itís fully deleted? Since you canít put an egr cooler on it? In which case, yes they will care, unless the shop is shady you will most likely fail.

Am I missing something there?

I use a BD Exhaust Manifold #1045965 direct replacement of the OEM but it has better flow design than the OEM. Besides almost no one will ship an OEM direct replacement to Cali ..

Check with whatever aftermarket company you're looking at to see if they have an EO sticker (Executive Order) for their product. Because if they do then you simply stick the sticker in visible location under the hood and you're good because the smog tech can verify that its CA compliant. Yes, very few aftermarket products have an EO sticker but its definitely worth asking...

Ok, maybe I was too vague in my original post. I've lived in CA my entire life. I'm well aware of what's legal, and illegal in regards to emissions on diesels in CA. What I'm asking is, for those that have changed theirs, how obvious is it that it's been changed of you keep the factory turbo and all egr components on? Has anyone on here that lives in California changed theirs and completed a smog check with it installed? Thanks guys for the reply's!

All I was pointing it is that some aftermarket company may offer an exhaust manifold with an EO sticker...which would make your question moot.

But besides that, as s10010001 addressed, if you have an EGR cooler on your exhaust manifold and you replace it with a manifold that does not have one then yes it will most likely be noticed and the tech will fail you.

Yea if itís hiding under a egr cooler I dont see how any tech would visually tell it from stock or even care. Id check for a EO from the vendor or even talk to my smog shop. Itís just an aftermarket replacement part at that point, not effecting emissions so...

With the egr cooler and stock air box nearby, the tech will never see the difference. Just make sure not to take it to the TEST ONLY shop since those guys will sniff everything even under a stock Honda Pilot. haha.

Btw, prior taking your truck to smog, make sure to do a emission readily test are passing using a cheap scan tool. You dont want to give them reason to further if something fail.

I've looked at a bunch of forums and there is no consensus. Looking at the Ats and the BD. Besides price what are the real differences I will see with one vs the other? Is it a dodge vs chevy question or is one better haha. Please help.
