Hi everyone!

I just wanted to give an update to this thread.

My last update was a few months ago and so far, I haven't needed to change the filter for any reason.

Zero issues so far and the weather has been a lot different from my last post. I'm not complaining about this winter at all! However, it did show up in early February and has been bitter cold and nasty until about a week ago...

Update!!

I found a new filter head on my porch a few weeks ago... Bad weather and a couple of sick days have delayed the install.

First, I did a mock up to see if it would work.

It fits like a glove!!

Don't give me any grief over the CAT filter... It fits, and I have plenty of them!

Only issue with this version is the slight taper on the fuel inlet side. Regular banjo washer leaked and I had to slip an o-ring in front of it.

For factory style replacement, the inlet needs to be machined flat to use the stock banjo fitting. Otherwise, it is a direct fit with factory plumbing!!

One cool thing about this filter head is the fact that it has no limits on filter choice. ANY 1-14 thread filter fits the base!

I can't answer the first part of your question, but yes the CAT filter is one of the best out there. I could have just re-used the original Donaldson that was sent with the first filter head, but I also wanted to let folks know that other options do exist.
