Upgrading the sinwgon

Like the title says FINALLY getting to start my upgrades and building upon the SINWGON! 😀My official upgrade/build thread;🤔! Any and all input welcome and appreciated. Some of you know a little bit already about what I went through just to drive the truck and get it compliant to my area. Had a heck of a time with transmission, clutch and emission bs when I bought her in 2016 with 124k miles, partially deleted had to return to stock and deal with alot of issues related to no real maintenance, brakes, filters, fluids, lots of front end work..... Now she is paid for(2 years early) registered in a emission free county 😉,and I have boxes of parts anxiously waiting to be installed 😁. Front bumper is on its way(I am hopeful to do all the front work at once while the bumper is off) Anyway I got the diamond eye 4" tbe on over the weekend along with the mini max that came with the truck."Holy cow what a difference" I have it on tow now, but anyone with minimax experience please share your thoughts.

Buy the transmission unlock code. One of my biggest regrets and probably lost 50K miles off the transmission life. I still got over 200K out of it. Even on tow setting you can make it slip from 4-6 gears. Back out of throttle or you are taking life off of it fast.

Believe me I am well aware of transmission woes, I bought a truck that was severely abused. Did not own it two weeks and was in almost 10k in a rebuilt trans and new clutch(bell housing and adapter plate broken in half)

Local exhaust shop, lost all my business! I simply asked if they could weld up the sections on the diamond eye 4", and the guy came at me like I was hiring a hitman(I know he was just covering himself) but tried to tell me the EPA is going to fine me 35k

Ditched the cooler, egr valve, installed throttle delete, pulled oil sample before giving her a fresh oil and filter change, new air filter and cleaned up the map sensor again(what a horrible design this mess was) looks like I may have a one man thread here! But anyway what a noticeable difference

I just did everything you did. Ditched the EGR system and the DPF. I didn't bother installing block off plates on the stock intake. I replaced the entire intake with a $85 dollar ebay intake horn. Love how it looks.

Initial calculations are showing at least a 2mpg increase, very promising! My Boondocks bumper has shipped! Hopefully will be here this week🙂, had new 275/70-18's mounted on the 2016 aluminum take offs ready to go in the garage, still lots of boxes stacked here in my den! I would love to find a reasonable intake horn as well

Oh, I could give you a laundry list of upgrades and by priority; but transmission valve body and TCM upgrade would be where I'd start first.

Get ready to pry that wallet WIDE OPEN!

There’s no valvebody, nor tcm on his g56.

If you like the box h&s tunes you should see how a good custom tune runs.

Yes I have no TCM or valve body but have been tossing around the idea of changing from ATF to something like delvac 50. Jim I know you have had enough trans problems that would send most people over the edge, as well as all the BS I dealt with my g56 within a couple weeks of buying my truck. Any and all input is appreciated!

My only input at this time is how did you name your truck?

Totally missed you were running a manual trans.

What's your desired end state and budget? You looking for a tow-beast, a racer, or what?

In the last two years, I've done the following:
  • RevMax transmission
  • Aux Trans Cooler
  • Injectors
  • Larger Turbo
  • Head Studs
  • FASS150 fuel system
  • Larger intercooler (air-to-air)
  • 100% LED lighting all the way around
  • Train Horn w/4gals of onboard air (remote controlled)
  • Tires/Wheels
  • Front-end Suspension
  • Hard flip bed cover
  • Neoprene seat covers

Spend climbs super fast. This year, my focus is on ride quality (shocks, shackles, springs, etc) and MAYBE paint touch-up.

Glad to help where I can with estimated costs, what to avoid or in what sequence. Sequence of bigger/faster/harder parts was the big learning for me..
