I believe I bought a early 2005 model Ram 3500 Quad Cab long bed. When I first got it it had the 70 MPH vibration problem. The dealer fixed the problem, I believe they had to replace the rear axle?
Then the plastic ended intercooler seperated where the tanks crimp on. Dealer replaced it, but with another plastic ended intercooler. at least they went back the the metal ended intercoolers on the 2006 model.
I replaced my intercooler with a Banks technicooler system!
Then my power steering box went out? Dealer fixed it too. This was all in the first 12,000 miles. Truck now has over 50,000 miles and no problems at all.
Now the good stuff. The truck is really nice to drive. for it's size, it has a good turning radius, decent ride quality, fairly quiet (was really too quiet in stock form), plenty of storage under rear seats and center console seat, and great Cummins power! When I really notice how nice the truck is, is when I'm towing. This thing will tow a 8,000 lb trailer no sweat, and get decent mialage doing it.

As nice as the truck is, I would probbably recommend a 2006 model as they seemed to have had lees initial quality problems, and you can get a megaCab (if you don't mind having a short bed.)

I love my truck. There were a few issues when new, but has been great and keeps doing what I ask it to do. Can't really complain after owning two Fords life is great now!

First Truck I owned from new and I feel the same about it today (86,000 miles later) as I did the first day I drove it! It has never been back to a dealer for anything. So far the only real issues I have had is with u joints & track rod ends.
I would definitely recommend it.
