anyone got an H1C they wanna part with for cheap???
my turbo started to squeel last night... so i'm no longer driving right now... i want to rebuild it... seems easy enough... but i'm kindof broke... and i need my jeep to get back and forth to work... so if anyone has a spare 1st gen turbo they'd part with for a few months/or maybe even weeks... i'd greatly appreciate it... let me know please...

I rebuilt a WH1C, it was super easy to do and doesn't take very long, only costs 60 bucks for the rebuild on ebay.

that's about where i'm at... but i'm worried about damage inside... i'm soaking the manifold bolts right now... (they won't come loose) but then i'm going to tear it apart before i order the rebuild kit... hopefully there wasn't any significant damage inside the turbo... when i removed the charge air hose it was dripping a bit of oil... so i'm worried about what really gave loose... and how much oil it blew into my intercooler and everywhere else...

An H1C is an easy rebuild. I just did one off a Case Backhoe a few months ago. Give Mac at Turbo & Diesel Service in Casper a call. That's where I got all my parts from. Cheaper than Case or Ebay at the time. They're at 6015 W. Zero Rd. and the phone # is 307-472-6760.

well... the rebuild is out of the question... i wanted to take it apart to see why it failed so quickly... i was worried it was something more than just excessive wear... and i was right...
not sure how that happened... and there's a missing piece as well... i'm not a happy camper... the bearing inside wasn't really worn... it just broke... wondering how long it's been that way either... i bought the turbo 6-7 years ago and it's been great, untill last week...

well... i got one from ebay in the end anyways... was very carefull to check part numbers and everything... it said new in box... but i don't think it was... they had ground off all the casting numbers and everything and had a non-holset tag on it... but it bolted up without any real problems and runs great... though it whistles when it spools up now (not that that's a bad thing) so thanks matt and sundown... $300.00 from ebay is way better than the $650.00 locally...
