High Mileage Used Cummins

Hey guys ive been lookin a lot at 2nd gen 24 valves as well as the 03-05 common rail pickups, but the only problem is that in my price range of <$15k that i can afford with my trade in they usually have in upwards of 180k to well over 200k. Is it just a bad idea to buy a used cummins with that many miles either manual or auto, or are they just fine if you check it out well, and what to check out. Just wondering if it is worth it to buy a high mileage cummins and what to look for. Thanks

In the 24v market, check the vp and the trans, if the vp is healthy and the trans is rebuilt/built you should not have any real expensive concerns, I just rode in an 01 with 245k on it and it was as tight and clean as new, just look for a well cared for truck, Utah is a gold mine it seems when looking for a clean second gen

lol, typical Wyoming problem. If you want something cool, you gotta go out of state to find it.
