Mig weldingwith gas would have and does work fine but it has to be done right. I have mig welded a lot of exhaust and headers and all kinds of stuff and never looked like that. That is a result of lack of care and no skill. Not the migs fault

Well mig welding it works but it won't look as pretty. It can be done nicely with flux core (no gas) as the weld will be smaller and stronger but flux creates even more mess than mig so there will be a lot more cleanup

Well Pat they aint touching my truck again. I am going to tell him I want the s400 I paid for and a new wheel on my 64. I'll take the turbos off and send them where they need to be sent. and 10-4 on the motor. I'm just glad I found it now instead of later.

MIG WELDS WHAT more could ya ask for its skill and technique and mostly prep doesnt matter mig or tig both can be strong and pretty or weak and ugly. It comes down to pride in your work and I always use gas makes 2ce as clean a weld man you can see in the first pic the gas was a little low the browinsh look to the weld but I have a mig, tig, stick all and use my mig 20 to 1

I wish I could mig weld like that. Practice practice practice I guess. What flow rate do you have your gas set on? And what gas are you using? I use C25 at about 20cfh and I get pretty dirty looking welds with spatter

no I "think" he was saying both flux core and gas. I think cause ya cant use both at the same time it does splatter everywhere or that has been my exp. I only use Solid core and Argon/Co2 75/25 Cfh about 9-11 depending on heat setting if your getting a lot of splatter try the mig tip dip. What welder you using. Not trying to hijack the thread

Im using an HH210. I use nozzle dip and I use spray on the workpiece to make cleanup easier. I always heard that 20-25cfh is optimal. If im doing something and I don't care if its pretty or not I don't do the best prep job so that might be some of why I get the spatter but shouldn't the high gas flow rate keep my welds from browning?
