Mine has 103,000 and is really not likeing me. I need to put my govenor preasure sensor in it and see what that does for me. That seems to be a popular problem with them.

I bought my 02 with 130,000 on it with the origional tranny. In 3000 miles didnt have one problem with it till last night when I went and picked it up from the shop. Just got the hot rod IP from industrial injection and 300 horse injectors. Runs really good but mix it with the edge juice, and she wont like it much. Lucky enough it gives a valid reason to the wife to let me buy a new tranny. I new it would happen, just not in 1 day. I guess thats what I deserve though for getting a little excited huh?

What are the symptoms ?
What was done to correct the problem?
Have I just had good luck or is the 47RE failure a Myth! If so lets BUST IT;

136k and dead, well not yet, but i know its inevitable. The TC is slipping, but as long as i stay out of it, its fine and doesnt act funny at all.

My FIRST 47re went in and out of OD non stop! it would not for the life of it make up its mind for more than 2 seconds. That was with 70k on it. Under warrantie it was replaced. the SECOND 47re went until 209k so almost 140k and i went on a 3.5 hr drive and when i got there for the next 2 days the RPM's were WAY higher than they shoulda been for the slow 30mph speed i was doing. I felt heavy and slow. On the way home it took alot to get momentum and i could tell it was struggling to push.
my THIRD 47re has 2k on it and was done Right this time. Coaltrain Diesel built it with billet shafts, blue clutches, kohleen steels, and a strong shifting VB. They also threw in a nice 3disk billet converter. Havnt had a problem yet and dont plan on one. I'm now sitting at or right above 600hp and it holds just fine with what ever throttle i want it to go at.

Well any power adders toast most 48re. As far as the 47 I have a friend named Rodney and his 1st and 2nd gear are fused together and it launches from second all the time.

Okay here you go. My dads 96 with 108000 miles on a bone stock truck was pulling up a canyon with o/d off and lost all power at the tranny. He is 4 hours away and it is getting towed in to a shop. I think it is a cooler line or something but non the less I warned him about the tranny on these things. I choose manual transmission cause it seems more reliable and even if you slip your clutch pretty good you can still limp home. If I was to own a auto tranny I would definetly take it to a pro tranny guy and have it rebuilt and gone through no questions asked.

My 01 has 167K and the only problem with mine is the 2nd gear, going down hill is the same as nuetral! not fun while towing a 12K pound trailer down a 6-8% grade. Going to get the whole thing gone through but not sure who or where to get it done.

'01 Ram 2500 4 X 4 Quad cab long bed. 4' Exhaust from turbo back with a mild muffler, GPS, Sirius, and back up camera. All for towing. 167K miles and still goes good. 2nd gear going down hill is just like nuetral...nothing happens except speed goes up.

Guess I make more power as I exploded the forward drum in under 4,000 miles on a rebuild and it makes a total mess of everything not to mention the engine seeing ungodly RPM's when it unloads! That was just passing a car on a 2 lane with the convertor locked up (no trailer).
