Before you start splicing, there is a plug and play kit out. It plugs into the back of the plug (between the plug and harness) at the bumper and run to the bed, This way you there is no cutting of wires and you retain both plugs.

I picked up the curt 56071 for my '04; but the plugs do not want to latch to the factory plugs, they will bottom out, and I can pull them apart. I thought about just wrapping the connection with a few zipties but that isnt what I was looking for when I bought this kit.
Any thoughts?
I already spoke to Curt tech support, and they are sending out a new kit for me, Im hopeful that is all it takes.

Be sure to post back here as I'm waiting to see what happens with yours before I buy one

So Curt sent me a new kit, the ends were exactly the same as the kit I previously purchased.
I ended up using a slip joint pliers to get one connection snugged up and the other connection to the rear of the OEM plug I used tie wire to keep it from slipping apart once clamped together.
I checked all of the connections and confirmed that the plug is operational...Im not expecting any problems. I will be putting this same kit in my neighbors 03 tomorrow night.

I put the curt 57061 on an '03 tonight; same problems as with the '04. I feel ok about using the wire ties to hold it nice and snug - may be a little over kill actually.
