Banks Power Brake
The install is on the truck in my sig....an 06 Megacab auto with 3:73's. The install instructions in the kit are great , but I've made a few notes to help the next guy. The recommended location for the switch(s) is good , but you will need to trim about 1/2" off each side of the opening behind the dash. I have a switch mounted in the plug where the factory power brake pedal switch would be for my strobe lights. ![]() This panel snaps off after removing two screws on the bottom of the panel.Drill two 1/2" holes , mount the switches and snap the panel back into place. Pretty easy stuff and it looks nice too. I especially think the OD switch is a good addition to help with hauling big loads which is what this is all about. The banks switches look professional and quite slick on the dash as you can see. ![]() The instructions recommend removing the front passenger wheel and wheel well liner to mount the brake /down pipe assembly. There is plenty of room to work by removing the wheel well liner. The solenoid is mounted on the back of the firewall, directly above the brake assembly. Pretty straight forward stuff. ![]() The compressor is a tight fit , and if you have a fuel sending unit for fuel pressure , you'll need to relocate and put the factory banjo bolt in to make room. The instructions recommend loosening the fan shroud bolts to allow some space , but my arm was small enough to get in and install the four bolts. Again nicely described in the instructions, and no extra modifications necessary. ![]() The Smartlock was the easiest part of the install.......plug and play. Everything you need is included in the kit...fuse spade goes on #28 for the 06. I didn't think to get a picture of the transmission connection......but it would have been difficult as the plug is on top of the bell housing on the drivers side. I'ts kind of hard to reach , and mine had a bit of road crud in it , making it hard to pull apart. Once you get through the connection part, it is a breeze as well. ![]() Now for my review. I had a chance to drive it a good bit today to play around with it. The Smartlock , tow/haul mode is the strongest combination for braking. With the Smartlock OD off switch , it allows you to use the TH mode with the OD off. Transmission shifts up and down much smoother than stock...especially with the stiffer 3D converter. Braking power is awesome.....I hauled a skid loader with bucket and auger attachment tonight.....total load around 12k and the brake performed great. I'll report back after I've had more time to play with it....but as of now , I give it a Tim

It does have a Jake brake sound but quieter....also has a hissing sound as the excess air vents through the vacuum actuator. I'll try to get a video up soon.

What size downpipe do you have to have for this?

This replaces the factory adapter casting and will bolt up to the stock 4" exhaust or artermarket exhaust.
