35's & Tire carrier

Will a 35" tire fit up underneath in the spare tire carrier? Stock 4" exhaust.

Next question is will my stock tire (265/75/17) work as a spare or will it hurt anything having such a large difference in size?

Dont knowif a 35 will fit or not, but if you get a flat on your rear axle you ought to rotate one from the front to the rear and put the spare up front, that way the rear axle aint trying to turn two differant sized tires and binding up.

I have read other threads on the same subject and I understand that a 315/70/17 spare will fit with four inch exhausts. I also understand this size spare is closer to the rear diff than the exhaust.

The 265 size tire will work as spare, but if you have a flat on the rear axle, I would recommend changing the front tire to the back flat and placing the 265 on the front axle. Otherwise, you will ruin the rear gears - assuming you have a limited slip rear end.

Yea, I knew that I would have to swap it out if I had a rear flat. Just trying to decide whether or not I should purchase a 35" spare when I have a stock tire sittin underneath that has 100% tread.

Yep, fits just fine.
I have a 315/70/17 for a spare under the truck, and 5" exhaust.

The tailpipe touches the tire, but no damage to it, been under there for almost 10k miles...

I have a 35 inch tire in my spare location! I wouldnt leave for Baja with out one. It saved me a ton of space being that I work as race rescue for SCORE off road racing and use my truck as an ambulance!

If you have a mag-hytech rear diff cover a 35 will not clear it. The tire will go up there but if the suspension moves at all the tire will be resting on the diff cover.

A 35" tire will rub the rear end housing cover and tail pipe on a short bed but may not cause any problems. Even a 33" tire will rub some tail pipes. I like to have a spare the same size as the tires I'm running.

It doesnt rub on my diff cover, and its not close to either.
Now if you had a Mag Hytec rear end cover it would rub...

Just make sure its slid all the way back up against the hitch.
