Feedback on making a tire decesion.
07 2500 that has stright pipe and Bullydog tuner. I have narrowed my choices down to 2 tires. Toyo Mts or Mickey Tom extreme ATs: Handling, How many miles can I expect, and road noise. I'm also not sure if I want a 35 in either tires or stay smaller with a 33. I also don't want to rob too much power or mpg. I had 33's on my Jeep and always wished I had the 35's. The Jeep was a toy the truck will also be my daily driver and weekend fun. Of course Im a newbie diesel owner but want to make the right decision instead of wasting money. Thanks ahead for any feedback. |

i like the toyos, on second set of toyo oc mt 35x12.5 with the first set on stock rims (17in) and this set on 18in rims. getting over 30k out of each set, with changing caused by wear in steering components putting end to that set. they are quiet (it is a loud diesel), mud/snow traction is great and traction in other situations seem to be good. 2nd set was siped, i think i will have this done again. planning to replace 2nd set in october before the snow gets serious. i would consider 33s, but i think they would look funny on the truck and the extra inch of ground clearance is beneficial for rig roads and winter.

Lem thanks for the feedback. Im a newbie to diesel and trying to research as much as possible before I start spending some cash. I made that mistake when I modded up an offroad Jeep. After more research I had narrowed it down to Toyos but the size may still be up in the air. I know 33's would be perfect and will not put that much extra stress on ball joints and sterring but they will look small and not fill the fender well after leveling the 07 2500. Another question regarding backspacing, I wanted to go with a set of XD wheels but it looks like they have the most backspacing. Any idea how far a set of 35 x12.5x18 will stick out on a set of Hoss or Spy wheels? My other choice of wheel would be Incubus Poltergiest. I certain they don't have the same backspacing as either XD wheel. |

my wheels are 18x9 and say -12mm on the box. with the bushwacker pocket flares, they stick out less than an inch. my ball joints lasted almost 90k miles, all with bigger than stock tires.
