load ratings???
Im looking at BFG rugged trail 265/75 16 for my '97, i want decent fuel milage for primarily a highway runner, now theres two load ranges present: 114 which can load 2601 pounds and 123 which hauls 3417 pounds so the question is, do I need the tires rated for more weight? im only doing two right now cause my front tires, installed by the PO, still have some life left in em. thanks guys |

The lighter rated tires sound like load range Cs. I wouldn't put anything less than Ds on a 2500 or bigger.

Another thing to consider, other than the weight rating,is the air pressure each tire can take. If your looking for mileage, get the higher rated tire. You can put more air in a D or E rated tire for less rolling resistance. Less rolling resistance means more MPG.

![]() Plus with the higher load range tires, your tires won't be the limiting factor in how heavy you can tow.
