H2 wheels

Did a search read all posts. I have a few questions though. Looking to put a set on my white 98, would look sweet with black H2's.

Are these rims strong enough for towing/hauling? These forged or cast wheels? So for I have not needed to tow more than what my 14k gooseneck will move.

Some H2's came with 18" wheels seems like most I find are 17" though. Which is better to use and why? With factory H2 tires the 17's are about 34.4 and the 18's 35.5.

By the way, what was dodge thinking when they built the factory rims? There is grove around the inside of the rim that holds dirt real bad and is hard to clean out. Makes for some pretty bad vibes. A 4wd rim thats not designed to be used on dirt roads???????

A lot of guys use them here, and I have yet to hear of strength issues. Sorry I can't tell you much more than that!

They're fine. I tow my GN trailer (7000# empty dual tandem) with my H2's and 35" rubber. IMO, the tires you use (reguardless of brand) will be the weakest link, not the wheels.

Check the used tire shops in your area. Chrome H2 rims run $250, and a practically new set of BFG's are $500 in my area.

i have not heard of 18" h2 wheels. I have 2 sets of the 17"s they work great. I've had up to about 3800# in the bed of my 3/4ton with those wheels and no issues however I dont think the wheels are as strong as some others. I think thre rated at 2400 or 2800# a wheel. They are cast as far as i know. Great wheels.

Got a set. Four chromes with tires off a '07 that had about 8k miles on it. These things are pretty close to a new set. Think I got a good deal for $560? Bought a router and bit today. Hope to have on by weekend. Thanks for the help.

CHromes with low mileage tires for $560? Not bad...

I paid $200 for my non-chrome ones with no tires!
