whats better in the snow?

a narrow or a wide tire? I just got some big 305x17 on alloy wheels just trying to figure out if I should run them this winter or get some narrower ones for the factory rims.

Narrower tires are always better in the snow as far as traction goes.

I agree, especially when running on compacted snow

Get more weight/sq.in on a narrow tire in the snow or on ice, wide tires are good for sand.

I agree that narrow tires are better in the snow. But I run 305-65-17 procomp xtreme a/t's last winter on my truck and they did better then the stock 265-70-17 BFG's that were on it.

a skinny all terrain will do the best on compacted snow. if you get into any fresh stuff you will want something that cleans itself out.
