anyone running alcoa semi's, please chime in

I found a guy near me selling some 24.5 alcoas, I was looking for 22.5's but the price on the 24.5's is too hard to pass up. If I ran low pros on the 24.5's would I be able to clear them on my dually with my 2" level kit?

With 24.5s, the smallest tire that I know of that you can get is a 285/75 which is 42.2" tall. You would need a big lift. Now if the 24.5s were shaved down to a 24" wheel, you have a bunch of tire options that would fit perfect. In other words, they don't have a low profile tire unless you run a shaved 24" Alcoa.

they have 285/75/24.5's on them right now. I could have sworn I have seen some lower profile tires for 24.5's around somewhere. I can get 8 of them for $1200, enough for my truck plus two for spares.

That's a pretty good deal. I would get them, and worry about it later. Go for it!!

Just called the guy to pick them up and he already sold them. :-(

The hunt continues...

What size were they? I'm still pretty sure a 285/75r24.5 is the smallest O.D. diameter tire they make in a 24.5. That price also seems way off for a 24.5 commercial tire.

that was the price for 8 drives with like new virgin rubber, I was going to jump on them at that price. Too bad they are sold now. The tires on them were 285/75/24.5

Exactly what I was saying in my other post. That tire size wont work without a huge lift. A 285/75r24.5 is 41" tall.

According to DuallyWheels4U.com, you must have 8" of lift to be able to run 24.5s. Due to the fact that the smallest tire for that rim is 40" tall.

thanks, that's alot of lift. If I had bought them I most likley would have had to spend the money to lift the truck more to clear them. lol I guess I am going to be back on the prowl for some 22.5's and low pros again
