1998.5 2500 tires???
I searched but didnt really find exactly what i was looking for. Part One: What is a reasonable size (larger) tire that will fit a 2500 (QC long bed) that wont rub and that i can be confident towing with. Part Two: what is a good tire that is inexpensive. preferably all terrain although i am not ruling out a mud terrain. as long as it will be fine to tow with(bumper pull for now but gooseneck in the future) basically good sized, cheap, able to tow. thanks guys |

285 75 r16 is as high as i would go if i towed. As for MT's, the firestone destination MT is a great tire in my opinion. They wear very good. I got 55k out of my last set.

Well, I agree, the LT285/75R16 size is probably the largest tire that will fit comfortably and still work in towing situations. As for good and cheap, those don't necessarily go together when it comes to tires anymore. But, if you have a dealer around you that handles Michelin, BFGoodrich, or Uniroyal tires, Michelin builds an associate brand labeled tire called the Sport King A/T that can be had for probably the lowest price for the quality of tire you're getting. They've got a really nice looking all-terrain tread design and are pretty good all-around. They only come in load range D in the 285 size but there's only a few brands that carry that size in an E rating anyway and are usually much higher priced. Hope this helps. :thumbsup

What do you guys think of BFG All Terrains? From what i remember, BFG have a good sidewall. I like the tread design and I had a set on my old XJ and i thought that they wore pretty well.

I think the bfg's are way overpriced considering what tire it is. Also, if you are buying tires, anything owned by Bridgestone is going up 7-10% on July 1st.

The real reason i ask is because there is a company that makes retreads and they have one that is on a BFG carcass with the same A/T pattern. Basically its the same tire. I have bought a set of tires from them for my old jeep and i really liked them, plus they were about 60 per tire, and they balanced fine, and tread life seemed good for a M/T (sold the vehicle with them on) |

Dont buy Sport King AT. While towing the tread came off and killed the side of my truck. Yokohama AT, Toyo AT, Nitto AT seem to all be great for these trucks with a good load rating, Just try not to get too cheap of tires if towing.

Im considering buying some 10 ply tires that a friend told me about that have a insane tow rating. Not sure what brand they are, I just know a local tire shop carries them
