Another backspace/offset question....

Rather annoying trying to find a nice wheel that is even remotely close to the right offset for these trucks. I thought finding nice wheels for my car was difficult!

Anyway, i really like hte Pro-Comp series 8069 in black

Only issue is the 4.75" BS and a -6mm offset.

my truck sits about 2" higher than ANY other 4X4 2nd gen ive seen and its box stock and clears my 35" BFG's on stock wheels with ease.

I do a lot of work on/near the beach so im on sand a lot and need a little more foot print after almost burying myself trying to un-stick my work trailer at a job the other day and managed to find a peice of rebar and park it through my right rear, chiped the wheel on the inside pretty well and stuck the rebar through the bottom and out the sidewall

Anyway, i wanted to get those wheels since i like the black wheel look and ease of maintanance over a polished wheel.

The tires im looking at are 325/65-18 MT ATZ and wanted to put them on 18X9 Pro-Comp with a 4.75" backspacing and -6mm offset. I know its no ideal, but need second opinions. I also know it may rub around full lock, but a little bit wont bother me too much.

Thanks for the help.

Jason

you may be fine or maybe a leveling kit will help out if it rubs bad, i am running a 35x13.5 wide on a 9 wide rim on a 3rd gen with a 3 inch lift and it rubs alittle around full lock

This is a constant problem for us Dodge owners. I cant believe the wheel manufacturers havent stepped up yet. I ended up running H2s just because they were cheap and I couldnt find any wheels I like with a 5-6" back space. Someone should make a sticky of all the wheels with the backspacing and offset for out trucks. The most common set up here is 35s and a leveling kit so finding the right wheel is critical for no rubbing. Stock wheels(6.25 back spacing) with a 12.50 wide tire will rub the control arms at full lock. If you run a wheel with a 4.25-4.75 backspacing you might rub the rear of the fender opening under certain situations, and that is a very common back spacing on after market wheels. 5.25-6" would be about perfect but its hard to find. I know Centerline makes some as well as Weld, but they are expensive. I would really like to know all the other wheel companies that make wheels that will work and get some pictures.

You HAVE to have at less 6 to 6.25 inch back spacing to be the same on the backside as stock. Then when going with a wider rim, the amount of extra width will be added on the outside. IE. stock is 8 and if you got a 10 then it would stick out 2 inches as long as it was back spaced 6 + inches. IT starts getting real ugly when your backspacing is a inch or more short and you got a wider wheel. That’s when you start pilling on the inches past the fender. Its ok if you got a huge lift. There are only three wheels out there that fit. KMC Hoss with a 32mm backspacing is one of them. The problem with wheel manufactures is that our lug pattern being the same as H2s they would rather make ghetto wheels for them!

Weld makes 17X8.5 with 6" backspacing, Walker Evans street locks, and Centerline are also available with the correct backspacing and offset.

Thanks guys! I stumbled over some wheels just a few mind ago by MB motoring in 18X9 with a 6" BS and 25mm offset(from all the research ive done on them is the number ive come up with anyway, awaiting an e-mail from them directly to comfirm). Should keep everything under the fenders where they are supposed to be! Only thing i dont have is the load capacity of the wheels. I dont think it will be a huge deal as the most weight the truck will ever see is 8k lbs which on my tandem trailer doesnt even put over 1k on the pin, so it should be just fine.

Here they are, found them at discounttire of all places, was really getting desperate

And of course heres the rubber at 325 a peice

Did you go with the MB rims? Was the backspacing correct at 6"? If you did go with them how do you like 'em?

Weld Comando backspacing

I have a 04.5 4x4 with the 600 H.O. I just picked up a set of NIB Weld Comando XTs 18x9.5 8x6.5 wheels for $660.00 for all four from 4wp's after shipping. They have a backspacing of 6.125 on 22mm I intend to get a 8inch lift with 37x13.5’s. Is this backspacing optimal or am I going to have problems? Also I can’t find caps anywhere
