biggest tire on a 2wd

Whats the biggest tire you can run on a 2wd with stock rims also im looking at getting a 2" or 2.5" leveling kit

my grandfather is running 285 16's on his 1992 3500 it sits up pretty good to i ran it for a few weeks last winter and one of the back roads had 2ft drifts and i made it!

I have seen pics on another forum of 3rd gen 2wd trucks with 285/75/17 and 305/70/17. Both had 2" front end lifts.
I'm running 285/70/17 without a front end lift.

I have the 295/70/17 nittos with a 1.5" leveling kit, no proplems
