Toyo M/T’s good price or nah?

Hey Guys- I was just quoted $320.00/tire for Toyo LT295/70R17E Open Country M/T’s. (Looking at $1440.00 out the door). Without spending $100 in fuel driving around the valley I am having difficulty figuring out if this is a reasonable price or not. The internet is not too terribly helpful because it’s difficult to estimate the shipping/mounting/balancing/valve stems/ excise tax…well you get the picture. Everyone here seems to rave about them and they are sweet looking for sure. What do you all think? Is it a go?

Seams high to me. I've found toyo MT's in 35X12.5X17 for $269.95 at Home Page @ Tire Deals 4 Less. Try that place with the size you want. I just happened to have that price and website written down at my desk.

I was quoted $1360 otd for the 35-12.50-17 Toyo MT's here with lifetime rotation, flat repairs and balancing. No hazard policy, but what's going to happen to these beasts? Kent Kroeker survived the Baja 1000 without a flat. Keep looking.

My 285-70-17 AT's are China built. Great tire, but I'm dissappointed in Toyo's justification in building a brand new plant here, then farming out tires for $0.50/hr labor.

Thanks everyone-
I had a chance to do a little calling around this afternoon and did manage to find $1388 otd (a little better at least). I always hesitate to order big ticket items like this off the net because you never know what you'll end up with and then it's a royal pain dealing with it. I think the customer service (rotating, flat repair, etc.) that comes with buying them locally is worth a few extra bucks for sure. I'll take your advice and continue to shop around. Besides, the hard part is going to be convincing the finance department that they are worth the cost...and she's a tuff sell!
And I absolutley agree that this whole China thing is really starting to bight hard. It's friggin impossible to avoid anymore.
