I went out and took a pic, very hard to see the edge of the cladding in the pic. Would be much easier to see from the back side of the wheel.

the stem would of been a better place to see it. that make no sense to me to have a clad on an aluminum wheel. if i had them i would of took that off right away and polish them i hate clad

is it 06? i never seen that as an option from factory. steel chrome clad and forged aluminum is the only options they offer when you order a truck on an slt.

'07 wheel options

I only meant chrome-clad aluminum would be an advantage over steel ones with chrome cladding. Much lighter. I don't understand Dodge's logic in cladding aluminum either,Defiant's owner has them(now stripped and powdercoated)and my friend's '07 came with them. If you can get ahold of an '07 brochure, you'll see a whole array of eight-lug options. They do exist. The steel chrome clad wheels are approx. 18# heavier than their aluminum equivalent as I remember. The earlier Dodge's had polished aluminum and brushed finish aluminum along with steel wheels with chrome cladding. I think I'll go to sleep.

are they the same as the polished and brushed under neath the clad. my friends 07 is a completely differnet aluminum wheel. spokes are thin and kick out more.. looking at dodges build your own 2007 aluminum chrome clads where only available on the sports and laramies but just the plane forgerd aluminum where on the slts

Here's mine...stock steel rims decladed, but decided to leave the "dog dish" center caps on.

i thought this thread was about removing the chrome clad layer to have a black wheel

You got it right. Removing the chrome clad layer to have a steel wheel that can be painted or coated black. The alloy wheel is an option, however I don't have them.

Thanks

Did you paint or powder coat? Gloss or flat?

Thanks

Cleaned them up and gave a couple of light coats of semi-gloss black rattle can paint. I will NEVER...EVER powdercoat rims again. Prior experience on a car...to big of a PITA when you get chips. Paint is cheap and easy to touch up, unlike powdercoating which chips from road debris. Oh and the yahoo's who chip them when they put wheel weights on them...after requesting stick-on only. Less hassle with paint, especially on a truck.
