Correct. They are the aluminum chrome-clad rims. Unsprung weight is the objective.

Hot damn Danderson!

Not only did you lead me to a great pic, you found one in white like my truck. Lots of good looking stuff on there too!

Thanks! :thumbsup

Thats a great idea VjjR, I'm going to get under the back of my truck and check out the spare. I think mine is grey without clad so it should paint up nice as a test.

clad rims are the steel wheels with a chrome sheet over it. and your asking about those right? the aluminum wheels are not cladded aluminum.

these are what the factory calls chrome clads(single sheet metal rims with a chrome sheet covering.)
eBay Motors: 17" DODGE RAM 2500 3500 CHROME WHEELS RIMS (item 180209885552 end time Jan-26-08 13:04:07 PST)
i thought this thread was about removing the chrome clad layer to have a black wheel

The wheels in Defiant's pics are indeed aluminum with chrome cladding. There are forged aluminum polished rims, aluminum chrome-clad wheels(Defiant's),steel chrome clad, and stock steel wheels which are only 7" wide. I've seen Defiant's wheels personally, and my buddy's '07 came with them. They have hollowed out spokes in the rear side, while the holy grail of Dodge forged rims are like mine, polished, forged with solid spokes. The cladding is easily removed on any of them. It next goes to the powder coater who will beadblast them and apply paint of your choice. I bought some H2"s for when I upgrade to 35"s.

beacause 07 aluminum wheels are different i know this at least on my friends 6.7. aluminum wheels are not cladded. the steels wheels are the only claded ones. if they where aluminum chrome they would be chrome plated not claded but they are polished or earlier ones were brushed.

if you were to powder coat something that is chrome clad u would usually remove the clad since it is just a thin sheet atatched to the wheel
