nitrogen filled tired?

Anyone done this? it's supposed to be lighter and better for the wear on your tires but past experiences would help...

I have run nitrogen in all my tires for about 5 years now. I don't really think that it is lighter than air, but it the tire pressure does not go up or down with the temps.......which means better wear.

I USED to run it in my vehicles. I did an experiment with my last set of tires on my DRW ctd and my trailblazer ss, the ss got nitrogen and the ctd did not. when cold temps came BOLTH vehicles needed pressure in the tires. It seams like my trailblazer which has notrogen in the tires has as many variations in tire pressure as my ctd has with air in the tires.

My opinion is it doesnt make a big enough difference to compensate for $5-10 per tire.

Costco only uses Nitrogen.. so my wifes rig has it, and mine will soon..

It works fine, thou I wont pay for it. And with my Dodge I change my pressure enough at home that it will be more air after a while, but air is 70somthing % nitrogen anyhow.

thanks for the info. i figured it wasn't worth $30 bucks to use nitrogen.

I always check my pressure, and we have days over -40 C, and I am always within a 1/2 pound. Maybe our nitrogen is better here in Canada..ha ha. For $20, and the even wear I get, I will never go back to air.

The more air you get out the better the nitrogen will work. I ran it in my modified. After a race a tire with just air can gain over 20lbs. A tire with nitrogen on the same track will not gain 1/2 as much. But keep in mind that they can get over 100deg F. If your tires dont ever get hot I would think it would be more of a hassle than its worth unless you have a nitrogen bottle. It worked good on my croch rocket. I thought I was getting my tires too hot because they would get slick after sum hard riding but I noticed that they were rock hard. I started using nitrogen in them and they stayed closer to the psi I set them @ and stayed sticky. Just my exp with it. Hope it helps....
