17x8 stockers need bigger tires sizes...

Well I have the 17x8 factory rims and I was wondering what tire size I can fit on here to give them a little bit more meet on there-The stock size is 265/70/17. I want to get these before next winter, I am currently looking at the Toyo Open countries Any help would be appreciated

i had 33 12.50 17 pro comp muds on my 04.5 stock wheels no leveling kit.. with the kit you can put 35's...

i think most of the other companies use the millimeter measurement on 17 inch wheels... or something like that.... someone else on here will be able to tell you the size -- something like 315/70/r17 maybe

the pro comps treated me good and i would look at the extreme a/t by them.

Thanks for you input porkchop, I was thinking about that size I will look into those pro comps-heard alot of good things about them. How do they do in the snow if you, well if you get snow in your neck of the woods?

i had the mud terrains and they didnt really do all that well in the snow... i reckon the a/t or x a/t would do allright... i think that pro comp has their yearly buy 3 get one free deal going on right now... any specialty tire or truck shop should be able to get them i would think... i got 34000 out of a set and i would have drove them another 10000 if i didnt sell the truck.. that is with alot of towing and the occasional

I bought the Toyo Open country AT, it handles the snow just fine. You have to use common sense, it's still a 7000 #+ truck. I put on the 285/70 17, they look much better than stock and handle the snowy conditions much better (32.8" tire).

Thanks for your input on the Toyos, I am concerned more with how they react off road(or in snow) more than on Because I dont really drive a whole lot (12000miles<) a year if that so aggressive tires wont wear that bad
