Best mud terrain tires.....

Ok...I have a set of 315/75/16 Mickey Thompson MTZ on my truck right now, and i love the tire, but they are wearing out at a very fast rate. My question is, what is the best mud terrain tire for our heavy trucks?

I love my Cooper Discoverer STT tires (D rated only). Also look at the Toyo Open County MT (E rated).

i had 34,000 on my set of pro comp muds on my 04.5 2500 and they had another 10,000 to go i would say -- that would be 100% worn though
size 33 12.50 17
i paid 220 a piece buy three get 4th free... i think they have that deal going right now, and 16 inch will be alot cheaper.

i have had probably 6-7 different mud tires on my vehicles including goodyear, bfgoodrich, mick thom, and other off brands and the pro comps are far and away the quietest mud tire ive ever seen -- bfgoodrich probably being the loudest (other than M T baja claws)

*edit* i also had alot of time towing around 10000 pounds (camping and horse junk). a few trips from Mo - Ms - Ok - southern Mo etc etc

I've almost got 20,000 on my BFG MT and I abuse them with burnouts all the time. They still have half of their life left.

Not to hi-jack the thread but I've seen a lot of Maxxis around. Don't know much about them though.

I have had luck with the BFG M/T's and the Dunlop Mud Rovers, which were both excellent tires.

I believe the Pro-Comps are actually made by Cooper, if I'm not mistaken........

I'm running 315-70-17 MTZs as well, and after almost 10,000 miles, and being a hard-core tire and wheel guy (been to schools, managed tire chain stores, etc), I have to say that I can't see any noticeable wear on them.

Maybe they'll die quickly after a bit, I don't know....

Will the Toyo E rated tire be worth the money in the long run? How much milage should be expected from these tires?

Another vote for the BfGoodrich Mud Terrain. However, I have Remington Mud Brutes right now and I really like them...Pulled out two buried F150's in one day using them.

The Toyo Open Country M/T, as far as mud-terrain tires go is hard to beat. For wear, durability (standard 3-ply sidewalls), and excellent mud-cleaning ability, they are probably the best all-around.

i have 33 12.50 toyo mud terrains and i now have 10000 miles on them and it has only wore 4/32's off i think thats pretty good for as hard as i drive and gravel roads also. If you do keep them rotated about every 5 thousand miles and you wont get that loud aggressive tire noise out of them!
