paint removal

Hi everyone I am trying to figure out the best and safest way to get the paint off my rims.(avatar)The previous owner painted them a dark gunmetal grey or atleast I think he did cuz I dont believe A.R. atlas' ever came that way. Or should I just leave them alone to be safe? They're really hard to clean but the paint job looks professional. Just thought they would look better on my truck polished. Any advice appreciated!
