cupping

All right I know I should be able to diagnose this but I cant seem to put my finger on it. Two sets of front tires on the truck both sets have cupped the treads all the way across the treads, just put on a new set of high pressure Bilsteins, ive checked the front end myself, nothing loose, my buddy next door also looked at the front end, said everything tight, been through the alignment shop, everything fine. Starting to get on my nerves now, Im soon going to have to put another set on, btw two different brands of tires used also. Last time i put tires on it went straight from tire shop to alignment shop like I said everything fine. Any ideas would be helpful at this point. THANKS

Cupping is almost always caused by bent or worn suspension parts. Wheel alignment usually does not fix this problem. Any worn component that connects the wheel to the car such as ball joints, wheel bearings, shock absorbers, bushings and springs can cause this condition.

cupping

My truck is a 2wd, Im debating to whether to yank out the whole front end and put in an entirely brand new one. The only thing stopping me is the deciding to spend the $600 price tag to do it, not sure its worth it, Id like to try to get a new truck sometime after the first of the year, maybe a 4500 with a longer bed on it and heavier suspension to be able to carry more weight. Oh yeah anybody running a 4500? Hows the fuel mileage, its an important factor on the decision.

Can this be caused by your tires being out of balance?

This can be the cause but rarely is it. Wheel/Tire imbalance usually shows up as bald spots between the outside edges and center of the tread.

Are you sure that 600 was it?? I did mine last year, all except the inner 2 tie rod ends and the end bill for all good MOOG parts was like 900.00.
