Just put new tires.

Hey fellows. I just installed new Nitto Trail Grapplers MT 295/70/17's in place of the stock 265/70/17's. My question is do I need to reset the obd computer for whatever reason. I read in a article somewhere about doing this to allow trans.to relearn driving style, shift points, something to that nature. Have a 2008 2500 4x4 6.7. Thanks.

Hey cuttr28! I just put some Dueler AT Revo II's in a 315/70R17E on my truck and it threw the speedo off about 4 mph from the factory 265/70R17s. I'd been wanting a Smarty to add some power for towing and since it has the ability to adjust the speedo setting by tire size, I bought one. It worked perfectly. It's not exact though (the instructions admit this) I plugged in the factory rated 34.4" diameter and the speedo went a little too high. I reset it for 33.2" and it's dead on per my Nuvi GPS. Only takes a few seconds to do. A friend also told me that you could go to the dealer and have them do the reprogramming, but he couldn't remember what he paid.
Hope this helps!
Bob

Thanks Bochco.

Thats what I ended up doing yesterday. Went to the dealership and they recalibrated it for me. I asked them could they do it with out charging me since its still under warranty but that did'nt fly. They charged me 97.00. I still am going to buy a programmer though. Just dont know which one and if I buy a programmer, beings my truck is all stock, will I benefit from a programmer with a stock truck or do I need to do all the stuff I read on here. DPF delete, egr delete, new air intake, new exhaust. I just hate messing with my emissions at this time beings its still under warranty and with the new emissions law taking effect in 2010. Gimme some in put on this fellows.

I will try to get some pics posted later in the week. I ended up getting them at a local Discount tire but I got there online price from Discount tire direct. They had them onsale for 263.00 a tire regular 271.00 a tire. Local store sells them at 291.00 a tire. I asked them do they match there online price from DTD an he said yes. Total out the door was 1020.00. They were 1052.00 for the tires, 60.00 for mounting and bal., 73.00 tax and they gave me 165.00 for my stock tires which had 10000 miles on them for a total of 1020.00 drive out.

My truck is completely stock and has over 90K on it. The Smarty Jr was designed to be safely used on trucks with no mods. I looked at programmers for the past 2 months, pros and cons on all of them and Smarty kept coming out on top a majority of the time. After purchase, I downloaded the program and set it to the lowest power level (40hp and 80ft lb tq) and it made a big difference in throttle response and passing power. Even off the line it pulls harder. I spoke with Bob Wagner to ask him some questions prior to purchase and to see what he recommended for me. I told him I wanted a little more power for towing and extra mpgs (w/o adding smoke) and also didn't want to "hot rod" my truck since it's my daily driver and needs to be 100% reliable. He recommended the Smarty Jr and said if in the next year I decided I wanted to upgrade, he'd take the Jr back as long as it was in good shape and let me trade up to the S06 for only the price difference. I've only read good reviews about his customer service. He's a really nice guy that seems to want to help anyone who asks. His number is 253.735.6281 or 888.225.7637. His e-mail is bob-wagner@msn.com. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions about the Smarty.
