Tell me about 22.5rims?

I see that 22.5" rims are the way to go! I work at a diesel shop and I have tires and wheels at my finger tips, BUT has any one put 22.5" rims on a non-dually? I have a '04 3500 shot box non-dually and I think it would look bad-a*s if it had 22.5" on it. BUT how do I make the rear look good? Super singles?

With your single rear wheel, you will need to do a dually conversion to get the 22.5s to work. Some of the other guys that have done this conversion can give you more information on everything you would need. Super Singles won't work because the smallest tire available for them is 42" tall.

Some people call the Super Singles, floaters. Same thing just some have a different offset to run on the front of commercial trucks. There still isn't a small enough tire though.

Floaters or the Super Singles just won't work without a huge lift or at least a big enough lift to clear 42" tall tires. There isn't a small enough tire available for the singles. If you want 22.5s, you are going to have to use 6 of them.

wouldn't you be able to just bolt up a reg 22.5 outer to the back?

Yes, you could do that. It just looks a little out of place. I saw a 2nd gen a while back with 4 outer 22.5s bolted up using 4 front adaptors all the way around. They stuck out some, but they were on there. It just looked a little funny to me, because the 255/70 tire is so skinny.

I saw a picture on the web in one of the forums of 22.5 wheels someone had made for his 3/4 ton dodge. it looked like the company made custom wheels for rock crawlers. i can't find the picture, but it can be done.

Yes, 22.5s can be made to work very easily on a 3/4 ton. All you need is a set of Alcoa mini floats from www.chromewheel.com. The mini floats have the correct offset for use on a 3/4 ton. Justin Clark has them on his truck. Buy these wheels and the 255/70s fit perfect. The only other option to get the look is to buy a set of Super Singles that are shaved to a 22" wheel from www.americanforce.com.

This is Justin Clark's truck aka "PRCA Bullfighter". He is using the Alcoa mini floats with 255/70 tires.

I found the link. The wheels you can read the description that he wrote.

Anyone runngin 22.5's on SRW trucks? - Page 2 - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board

I will probably have a set of Vision 19.5's for sale as soon as I find a set of wheels that fit with the 285/70 michelins i just bought.
