Do I need a lift with 35"'s?

I have a 2004 Dodge 1ton quad cab 4x4. Right now I have BFG All Terrain KO's 33". I would like to go up to a 35". My truck is stock, do I need to get a lift so they wont rub or will I be ok?

Thanks.

A leveling kit will clear them. Just watch the backspacing if you get new wheels.

You can fit 35's asking as you run the stock wheel/ backspacing.

Most folks run 35s with only a leveling kit and this looks about right. 37s are what most folks go for running lift kits. About the only problem you'll have running 35s on stock rims is rubbing the upper control arms at full lock. This is something that can avoided and most don't let it bother them much. Running a wider rim with a bit less offset will take care of this. Something like a 17x9 +18mm.

So, by putting 35" on am I going to end up with rock chips down the side of my truck? should I be putting flares on too? And if so, are the bolt on ones or the molded ones better? Thanks.

Flares are nice to have with wider than stock tires. Mud flaps aren't much good with 35s.

your's being an 04 makes the difference. i run 315x70 r17 hankooks (just a tad under 35") and i don't have any rock chips just running the dodge molded mudflaps. i can hear the occasional rock ding off the doors, but it hasn't hurt anything yet.

it rubs the upper control arms if i'm going forward to the left or backward to the right. i know its weird, but the axle is shifted to the p/s about 1/2 an inch for some reason.

i don't run a leveling kit or lift kit either.

and by the way, hankooks are a nice tire. 10k on mine with minimal wear.
