Widest Tire on an 8" wheel/rim?
Howdy everyone, Ok, so I was wondering if anyone out there puts the 35/12.50/17 on a stock 8"wide wheel...???...??? The website says you need an 8.5" wide wheel for the tire, is that bullpucky? What is everyone doing? I have 2006 2500 wheels on my longbed 2003 quadcab 4x4, with a 2.5 leveling kit, and now want to put the 35" tires on it. The rub is that my wheels are only 8" wide... I want a true 35" tire, but do not want "d" rated tires (8 ply).... What to do, what to do! |

Folks run 33s and 35s all the time on 8" rims. Tire pressure may be more critical with the 8" rim than a 9" for even wear. The rolling resistance will be a bit more along with increased tire wear and a bit less fuel economy with a under width rim. This could have something to do with some tires lasting longer for some folks and others running the same tire having much less tread life. Billy
