How big can I go?

Stock suspension with stock wheels. I would like to know the biggest I can go without any issues. I keep coming across 255/85 as the biggest, but can I go any wider? Ultimately I would like the tallest tire I can fit... but restricting myself to 255's seems to greatly limit the tire choices.

My 245/75's are just too small and they are getting ready to be replaced. I am not looking for an extreme offroad tire... just something good on the highway and good through deep snow.

You can fit 285's with no problem. Some people run 315's stock too, with maybe some minimal rub, or no rub at all. I believe you can fit 315's fine with a leveling kit as well

I'm running 35x12.5x17 on after market rims. There is no rubbing at all either.

Ok cool, so 285/75's should go on my stock rims fine and still fit? Just as long as I stay close to 33"?

Go 35x12 you'll be fine. Not sure what that equates to in millimeters.

Walking around campus today I took notice of a few tires on a couple trucks... very ironic and very helpful that this happened. I parked next to an identical truck to mine, he had 285/75's on the same rims I have, they were new too. So I can see that those fit fine. I then passed up a mid 90's F250 with new 315/75's.... man those looked good!

If I get the 315's I need this leveling kit?... however, don't I want the truck somewhat raked for when I have heavy loads in the back?

Well it looks like im going to settle on 285/75/16's since there is such a large amount of different tires for that size available... however if I come across a good 255/85 I would rather have that. I want height and the narrower the tire the better due to the amount of snow we get up here.

I have my eye on the Pro-Comp A/T's right now. I saw a set on eBay for buy 3 get 1 free with reasonable shipping. Its within my price range, but I don't know of this particular brand's quality... Can anyone attest to the performance and quality of Pro-Comp? Are their tires made in the US?

yeah i don't think anyones noticin your truck is older. 315s fit on a stock 3rd generation but i think your truck has a touch less room up front. id go 285/75 if i was you. Or even a 305 but your kinda limited to what tires come in that size
