Lightbulb Better tire size for fuel ecomomy???

ok yall the truck needs new tires. im debating between the toyo proxys 285/60/17 (30.46'') or the nitto terra grapplers 285/70/17 (32.71'').

id like the little taller tire to keep the rpms down, but idk if that would be off set by its heavyer weight or not??

With the shorter tire the engine will be turning more rpms, which usually doesn't help with the fuel economy. The 70 series is taller than stock and might give you a little better economy, but don't count on it. I didn't see much of a change in fuel economy going up to the 285/70/17 size.

hua.. so i guess im looking about the same mpg either way. that 285/75 is even taller than 285/70, and esafo only gain 1/2 an mpg.

how do those terra grapplers do on the road? traction, road noise, ext.??

1/2mpg is good for a free gain. great in the rain, specially last night. have not been in a STICKY situation yet. road noise NONE, IMHO they look like the correct size that should of came on it from the factory.

im droping my rear a couple of inches, so im hoping the 285/70's would have the same effect.

i was thinking of the 295/70's too. (there a fuzz cheaper too)

why no 60's? too short of a tire? too short of a sidewall? explain??

a 285/60/17 is 30.46'', and 245/75/16 (stock) is 30.47''. so its the same height is what came on my truck.

if you go widder than it takes away from the height.

285/75 17 Toyo AT's I have about 9k on them great tire so far. Quiet good off road traction, nice ride. I recalc'd my speedo and my mileage picked up to 21. If they last 40k I'll buy them again. "E" load rating carry 3790 lbs.
