do load range E tires need special valve stems?

Im active duty in the military so I have access to the auto hobby shop where we can mount and balance our own tires? I will be putting my new tires on soon and im wondering if I should trust the ones the sell at the hobby shop or just buy my own?

You should get high pressure stems, or bolt in stems.

I am partial to bolt in stems because they are almost indestructable, I haved seen a few high pressure stems have the rubber separate from the shaft, I've only seen it 3 times in the thousands of tires I have worked on. I have high pressure stems in my truck and I plow with it with no problems.

If I ever have a problem I'll go to bolt ins, but until then, high pressure stems will be good.

if you do any serious off-roading stay away from metal stems. rocks can rip them off real quick. not too many serious off-roaders rnning diesels, but you should be aware!

I work in a 4 Wheel Parts store, and we always use the high pressure in any of the 3/4 tons or bigger. Sometimes the bolt ins, but mostly the rubber high pressure ones. Just my 2 cents.

Truck size shouldn't matter, it depends on the pressure in the tire.

I know people that run 10 ply tires on half ton trucks because they haul stuff with them.

General rule is anything that is rated for 50 pounds and higher should get a high pressure stem.
