Question Need help with tire and wheel calculation.

Hey all,
First of all, stock height 07 CCSB with stock wheels and tires.

I am looking at:
1. Toyo M/T 33-12.5-18
2. XD 786 18x10 with 4.5" BS and -25mm offset (also comes in a 0 offset, and possibly others (website states -25 to 0))
3. Bushwacker Extend-a-flares

According to my calculations, that will place the inner edge of the wheel outboard .75" from the current stock wheel, and the outer edge of the wheel outboard 2.75"
I am just wondering if that is correct, and will work properly without any rubbing. I will also be towing a travel trailer and want to make sure that it will not put extra stress on the axle by changing the backspacing that much (yes, I do worry too much).

Thanks in advance,
Wes

I think you are going to rub the fender/flare with that combo...maybe the control arms too. And if you ever level or lift it's really gonna rub.

The wheel width and backspacing is going to push the wheel way out, and you're gonna rub when you turn.

I would look for a wheel with more backspacing and/or a high positive offset. I'd also stick to a 9" wide wheel max.

The H2 wheels would work well here if you like the look of those wheels. They are 8.5" wide and have roughly a 5.5" backspacing. I have H2s on my truck. I have one picture in my garage.

Don't worry about extra stress on the axles...not an issue. Look for a wheel that has a nice load rating if it bothers you.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Do you think this wheel with a 0 offset would work? That would put the backspacing at 5.5".

I have a friend with 22 x 11s, and 315s on his stocker without any rubbing, so I am trying to compare the two also.

Thanks again,
Wes

Or to chime in again,
Should I stick with an 18 x 9, and BFG A/T 285s?
Thanks again,
Wes

The 0 offset would work better than the -25 offset for sure.

The tires aren't the problem. It's the wheels that you put them on and whether or not you have any lift or are planning on lifting/leveling. When you lift you pull the front axle back into the truck giving you less wheel/tire clearance. You friend's 22x11s might work depending on the specs of the wheel.

I'd stick with the 18x9s personally. Just take into consideration that if you ever lift the truck you might get some rubbing.

Roger that!
I am not planning on lifting it, but at most in the distant future was considering the Kore Recon.

My calculations below are based on 43.1 mm offset of the 8" wide 2006 wheel, I believe the 2007 is the same.

According to my calculations, that will place the inner edge of the wheel outboard 1.697" from the current stock wheel, and the outer edge of the wheel outboard 3.697".

You would not rub the control arms with this setup. Inner fender or lower bumper is possible however.

The zero offset wheels would help, just subtract 1" off of each of my numbers above.

Thanks Eric,
I was an inch off on my stock wheel backspace.

Will a 18 x 9 with +18mm offset work with the 33-12.5-18 toyo M/Ts?
The specs on toyo recommend an 8.5 - 11.0 wheel, which I had been shooting towards the larger size for towing.
That should put me ~ 0.5" less backspace, and ~ 1.5" more outboard.

Thanks again,
Wes

Those sound like they would work well.

Wes-

You're welcome

Yes, the setup above would be much better, it is pretty close to mine. Any wheel width should be fine, however, if you are going to be towing heavy weights, you might want to look for a forged wheel versus cast for extra strength.

Thanks for all of the help. I ended up going the more conservative route. I purchased the XD HOSS 18x9" with +18mm offset, and BFG T/A KO 285/65/18 with a 285/70/17 for the stock spare wheel which is the same diameter per the BFG spec sheet.
