06 Tire eater

Can't tell you how many sets of tires I put on this truck with 60,000 on it. The backs wear fast and the fronts cup.
Replaced ball joints 2000 miles ago. Ready to sell the truck.

Best wearing tires please?? I will go back to stock 265 70 17.

I pull a trailer a lot and the rears seem to wear quicker, even when rotating every 5K miles

keep them rotated, make sure its aligned up front and your ball joints are good

I've run Goodyear tires in the past and had nothing but trouble. I have had wrangler at/s and wrangler at, both sucked. I will not buy wrangler tires for a heavy truck ever again. They all seem to have a soft compound. I have been running Nitto Terra Grapplers for 80,000 miles (two sets) and just ordered a new set of 285/75/17 grapplers today. I also am getting ready to order some Kumho mud tires for the 16" stock rims for hunting season. Oh yeah, make sure you are running load E tires.

My truck ate a set of 17" Toyo's in 14k. The tire shop said they were the flatest, most even wore tires they had ever seen and were absolutely floored when I told them they had 14k on them. I switched to Nitto Terra Grapplers and chewed them off in 9k. Burnouts, you may ask?? None. Load range?? E. Tire pressure?? 65-70 and the sides are wore the same as the center. I switched back to 16" wheels and grab the best tires out of the pile of junkers out machanic is throwing away from our company trucks. If I burn off a set in 5k, who cares!! They are free!!! I just go and get another pair. I keep the 17" Nitto's for the winter. I am currently running 235/75/16 Firestone Transforce. They are awful in the rain but they leave really long marks in the road!!!

Beats me!! I've heard from others who have had good luck with both Toyo's and Nitto's. The only difference is they don't live in Michigan. Our roads up here absolutely suck. I-69 between Port Huron and Flint will rattle the fillings out of your teeth and the rest of our roads are even worse!! It's the only thing I can figure.

Try the Nitto Dura Grappler. I just purchased a set and they are suppose to be the best wearing HD tire currently available.
