Removing Chrome Clad

Any advice on the best way to remove the chrome clading on the stockers?

I think most guys use some scotchbrite or sandpaper, just don't get too coarse or you'll scratch the metal too much.

These appear to be glued on I think. I think I saw some things in the past about removing them and the glue.

No, they are not glued on. They have tabs on the backsides. You have to remove the rim and you will see how to unclip them by bending back the hard plastic and they will pop off. They are hooked on the back of the rim. I did it myself to see what it would look like.

How did they look when you took them off? Just a plain steel wheel? I am think of doing it and then painting the steel flat black. Thoughts?
