TOYO M/T's = Horrible Experience

Just as title says... I bought 4 Brand New 35/12.50/20 Toyo Open Country M/T 10 ply load range E tires that were made the 52nd week of 2008. I purchased them a week and a half ago and I have had nothing but trouble. If you air the tires up to the recommended pressure of 65psi the truck floats around the highway very unsafely. The tire shop I bought them from keep telling me I have to "break them in" I am not a stanger to buying new tires, and I have never had to so called break them in. It is totally impossible to tow a trailer behind my truck with these tires. I have them aired down to 30 psi just so the truck will be safe to operate. I pull heavy loads long distances and I know this cant be possible with 30 psi. I have caused such a stir up there, they are supposed to order me 4 new tires in the morning and I get to pick out which tire I want again... I thought I made the right decision by going with toyo but I guess I was wrong. I am open to any suggestions and I want to run a mud tire not a A/T. please help guys

That is the first negative thing I've heard about Toyo M/T's.

Are you used to running a 20 inch wheel? I know that when I changed to them the lack of side wall took some getting used to.

My wife's car is crazy in ruts with low profile side walls that are on it.

You really need to establish a wear pattern on them before they will ride right

Had mine now for about a month and they are just now starting to behave on the highway and mine are 37's

But the problem is, is that I tow with this truck and I can't establish a wear pattern with a truck that is unsafe to tow a trailer. I have 750 miles on them now and if they arent broke in by now I don't know what to do. I bought the most expensive tire possible to have the best tire possible. It upsets me more than anything because I am going to have to settle with a different tire.

I am running a 20x10 wheel

I'm one my third set of them and the only bad thing I've heard was that they make 3rd gen trucks pull to the right. I put some longer lower arms on and an offset ball joint and mine is totally neutral even when loaded.

I love them. The hold the weight great, are quiet, last a long time.

I'm on 18's and not 20's though. I've seen a bunch of trucks in my area running them with 20's. A few of them tow/haul, but most of the guys running the 20's around here use them for grocery getters.

I've also heard that these tires can amplify other suspension issues.

Never heard that before, I'm on my third set of toyo M/T's 37's on 22's and tow 10k daily. I love mine I keep them at 55psi

Call your toyo rep and complain, something is wrong with the tire if your not happy. We jsut put a set of 35's on 20's on my buddies chevy and they ride real nice even at 80mph on the highway

If you tow frequently, why have a mud tire anyway? I loved my Toyo's and kept them at 45 psi. If you want the MT look, go for the Mickey Thompson ATZ's. They are an agressive looking AT tire. I'm running them now and have no complaints.

I just like the looks of a MT, it don't make sense but thats what I like. This is the first bad thing I have heard about a toyo tire and I am experiencing it first hand.

I had 36/13.50/20 IROKS before these and they were great but they only lasted 15,000 miles. The tire store blamed my truck for the problem and I went home got the Iroks and told them to mount them up and take it for a test drive and tell me that my truck has a problem. They drove it and thats when they agreed to order me a new set of tires. I am debating between the 325/60/20 km2, Mickey Thompson MTZ, or Mickey Thompsom ATZ. I had the Mud Grapplers before the Iroks, I loved them but I didn't like the noise they made

Sorry for your problems, I don't know how you could stand the Iroks for towing.

As for towing with MT's I like the toyos the best of any I have had. They look killer, last as long as any AT i've owned. I also have to pull equipment across nasty tore up worksites, and don't like being stuck.

I've had 35x12.5x20 toyo mts for 20k now and they have always been great tires. I tow heavy and from 35psi to 65psi max they have handled and wore great. They did pull a little to the right but my steering stabilizer fixed that.

dont know why you're having such issues.
