steel wheel vs aluminum wheel

i couldn't find any info doing a search so i figured i'd ask. is there any preference to running a steel wheel or aluminum wheel for towing? I'm looking to get rid of my aluminum wheels for some steelies and I'm curious if they will hold up to towing better than the aluminum ones. so i would like to know what ya'll think about which is better, running steel wheels or aluminum wheels.

thanks

Alot depends if its forged or cast. Personally, I'd go with a forged aluminum wheel.

Forged aluminum is strong and probably lighter weight than the steel.

if we're talking factory 3rd gen wheels, you won't have any problems with either of them. I prefer aluminum for looks and weight savings

Take a look at 18-wheelers and you will see both.

Forged aluminum.

Lighter and stronger.

Check the term "unsprung weight".
