what's the difference?

I have the stock dodge Steel rims with 265/70/17 e rated bfg's on my truck now. They are rated for just under 3200 pounds a piece. I tow fairly heavy on occasion and they do fine. I am looking at a new set of h2 rims wrapped in new 315/70/17 bfg's with the same weight rating but d rated. What is the difference going to be? Can I still tow the same? I've talked to 3 different hummer dealers as well as hummer in detroit and the consensus on h2 rims is 3300-3500 pounds so my question really pertains to the tires.

Nothing! Some people on here get real caught up with letters when they should be looking at the weight rating in pounds. If you look at a 265-75-16 that is E rated then look at the same tire in a 285-75-16 D rated most of the time the carrying weight of the tire is the same.
