Need Help

I now this is a repetitive question here as i have read it before but can't find the good threads on it.. I know there a allot of knowledgeable people here so i am hoping for some real world help..

I have a 99 ram with those narrow 6.5 rims and want to put as big as big of a A/T tire as i can on them.. Here the Catch.. i have a huge travel trailer i pull with it and i don't want to make this thing drive poor and wonder or make it not very family friendly drivable when we head out on the weekends.

I currently have 265/75/r16 on it.... Can i go 285/75r16 or is that just not worth it for me.. Would like to get new rims but that is just not in the cards right now.

Thanks in advance.. really appreciate you help

The 265's you have on there now are already wider than tire manufacturers recommend. I wouldn't go any larger than what you have without upgrading your wheels. Take a look at the Nitto Dura Grappler This tire is made in the US and is built to tow in the US. Check out the reviews and please let us know if we can help you more.

If your truck is 4x4 then you can fit a 285/75/16 fine.

True but in order to get the most out of this size and to keep safe. Tire manufacturers recommender wider wheels. The stock wheels are too narrow for the tire. Running this wide of a tire on a stock wheel that is 6.5" wide will increase the rate of wear and increase the potential for a blowout as well.

The Terra Grapplers are a great tire but if life is a major concern I would again recommend the Dura grapplers. Other than that, your best AT will be the BFG AT KO's. These are fantastic tires and worth the extra money. These last, are great in the snow and, in the load range E will be a solid tire for you when towing.
