Help me decide on tires for mileage!

OK guys, I have had good success with my 295/70/17 Nitto Terra grapplers. They will be hitting the wear indicators in a few months so I'm gettin ready to shop.

I've got 373's, auto, and the leveling kit and am debating on going to a tall and narrow tire. So far I am debating with myself over a 285/70 or a 285/75. I don't think that I want to drop back down to a 265/70 since I've had them before and don't care for the RPM range to keep the truck at 70. Hit me with some opinions.
Thanks

The 285/75/16s I got are pretty nice... I'd stick with the Terra Grapplers probably, the only tire I may go back to is the BFG A/T

I was averaging about 16-17 mpgs out of this setup. Usually 60/40 hwy/city. I can't dog the terragrapplers though, I have pulled off about 45,000 miles out of them and they are still wearing pretty smooth. The 295's are a D range tire, forgot the weight rating, and max psi. at 65psi. I'm thinking that going to a load range E tire like the Duragrappler might give me some more mpg edge.

I would get Michelin LTX AT2 in a 285/70. You'll get great mileage from them. Smooth riding too.

DieselRookie makes a great suggestion. These are one of the few AT tires that offer a tread rating and at 500, you will get some great miles out of them.

Your Terra Grapplers are also a good choice, especially with the success you have already had from running them.

Thanks for the replies, I hadn't really though about Michelin's due to alot of the sidewall cracking stories a few years back. I might check them out too.

hey "WoodRep", i'm in the same boat as u. talked directly 2 NITTO, cuz thats what i was leaning heavely towards also. 4 the mileage u want the DURA, plus a E rating. 285-75-17is the tallest 17 they have at 33.86, will work on stock wheels.

Thanks, I am liking those tires, but curious how they are in the rain. Theres no siping? I ran Firestones that looked similar to that treadpattern on my 00 7.3 dually and they went forever on miles. Still searching...

The dura grapplers have a TON of sipping! I have sold a ton of dura grapplers and so far all of my customers have really liked them a lot. Our shop truck is a 1 ton duramaxipad with well over 55,000 towing miles and plenty of tread left. A friend that has a exhaust shop accross the street from our shop has a set on his 3/4 ton duramaxipad and hauls mules every weekend all over and the tires still look new with about 20,000 on them so far. All of my customers have said they do great on snow and ice. Have yet to hear any news about rain traction yet though. I'm guessing with the amount of sipping the should do good.
